Oak Trees Class

Years 4, 5 and 6

Class Teacher - Mrs Milson

Teaching Assistants - Mrs Marshall and Mrs Peel

Welcome to Oak Trees!

In Oak Trees, we love working together as a team with others in different year groups, so that we can discuss and explain our ideas.

We usually learn maths, spellings and literacy on a morning, and then other foundation subjects such as geography, computing and PSHE on an afternoon. Most of our work is linked to a particular topic and we enjoy being creative in everything we do.

On a Monday afternoon, our spelling homework is due for Mrs Milson to check and mark. We are usually asked to search for our own words that have a particular spelling pattern, prefix or suffix.

Each half term, we alternate between Forest Schools and PE on a Thursday afternoon. During the first half term, we love doing Forest Schools outside where we practise using the tools correctly, light our own fires and even climb trees (all with adult supervision of course!)

During the second half term, we join with Conkers class and learn a range of PE skills such as circuit training, tag rugby and dance.

We also enjoy 'Buddy Time' on a Wednesday afternoon after Open the Book, where we spend time with our buddy from Acorns class. This involves us working alongside them and supporting them to carry out a range of activities such as: reading a story together, playing a phonics board game and writing a book review.

Year 5 and 6 are taking part in a 2 day training programme about road safety called 'Bikeability' The pupils are 'gearing up' to tackle the country roads, learning all about staying safe and being responsible riders.
